3 Earth Day Inspired Cleaning Tips

I have always loved being outdoors and have a deep appreciation for nature.  When I finally had a family of my own, one of the things that I looked forward to the most was starting a garden. Last year, I had the opportunity to start my first garden on Earth Day. Since then, Earth Day has become a holiday for us in which we really enjoy sharing with the kids. In the spirit of Earth day, since I know moms read this blog, I want to share with you three Earth Day inspired cleaning tips that could help the environment:

  1. Choose to recycle cleaning products when empty. Most cleaning products come in recyclable containers. Our garbage can easily become the repository for all household items, so it’s important to remember to recycle when possible.

  2. Use cleaning supplies like Art of Green. Not only are the containers 100% recycled material, but the product is also safe for sensitive skin. It is also a USDA-certified bio-based product. For the win! Just think about how you can teach your kids this lesson in relation to Earth Day. I’m always looking for teachable moments and since I clean a lot, this is a great one.

  3. Find ways to use the same product to clean multiple things. Instead of buying a ton of different products, I recommend Art of Green multi-surface cleaner. I like it because it works wonders on many different areas in the home and is tough on grease and grime. Also, as I stated earlier it is safe on sensitive skins so if you have kids running around you can feel more confident knowing it is not harsh like the other brands. This also includes pets as well. I have always believed that we should share our tips and things that we learn as moms.

Earth Day is a great way to do that when it comes to cleaning supplies and getting your kids involved in helping the environment. I was watching a documentary the other day about our planet and being environmentally friendly and one thing they mentioned is how it is way too much for one person to deal with but if we all collectively came together and just did our small part, it would make a huge difference. I hope this blog inspired you to change the products you are using and to embrace an environmentally-friendly product that is also safe around kids and pets.

My Top Five Spring Cleaning Secrets For Busy Moms

This blog is sponsored by Art of Green but all opinions are my own.

Spring is here! After that really rough few weeks here in Texas with the weird cold freeze that we haven’t seen in decades, it feels good to walk out of the house and smell Spring time brewing. That also gets me in the cleaning-mood. Anyone else has a burst of cleaning energy when Springtime hits. I do every time when I wake up and the sun is shining and as I drop off my kids and the weather is warmer. Sounds cheesy, I know but it is so true. I’m a summer gal but Spring gets me excited for my summer fun. I wanted to share my top five spring cleaning secrets for busy moms today because as you know, our time is VERY limited. I love getting tips from other moms so here are a few of my own!

  1. I tend to get caught up in one assignment but if I am cleaning an area and I have in a rush, I put on a timer and tell myself to do as much as I can within that time period. That helps me stay focused and it sort of a fun game I do with myself.

  2. Always, always, always have a trash bag and donation bag handy nearby. I have found with a growing family, as I’m cleaning I always think, now when was the last time we used this. This can definitely go in the donation bag. It clears the area so quickly and I can do what I called “spot Spring cleaning”. It the smaller version of the huge Spring throw-out most of us do during this time.

  3. Throwaway overly used items. If you are like me, you like to get the most out of anything you buy or purchase. That is so me. I thoroughly enjoy using UP everything I get. Spring cleaning is a great time to look at it and say, the shoes are done, Bridgette. You’ve patched that hole up too many times...lol. I’m joking kinda, but not really. I have to be honest with myself or I will become that hoarder lady on television.

  4. Use environmentally friendly, cleaning supplies. My favorite is Art of Green. Listen, these wipes are magical. Not only are they biodegradable making it environmentally friendly, but they are tough on grease and grime. I would add they are tough on toddler messes as well. With two small kids around, wipes are everything. I love how natural these are as well as how tough they are on the messes. I don’t have to clean for very long and it’s a super easy clean-up by just throwing them in the trash. The spray is amazing as well and if you want to do double duty. Use the spray and then use the wipe as well. It works great by itself but I know some things need extra clean like my daughter’s car seat.

  5. Get the kids involved by allowing them to do a toy donation bin. I get my little ones up and we chose which toys we want to give away. Not only does this teach them giving but it also shows them how clean the area can be after they donate. We make room for toys that are more age-appropriate and laying a foundation for cleaning.

On one hand, I’m excited about Spring being here, on the other hand, I’m thinking has 3 months gone by already. Where has the time gone? So as you’re cleaning your home, also remember that life is happening so fast. Take the time out for yourself and enjoy the project you just completed with an “I did that and took care of the environment in the process.” Enjoy mama! Rooting you on as always.

It’s Time To Break Up With Your Energy Provider

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rhythm. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was going to start this blog with saying “as a mom”, but honestly, as a person, I dread the calls to energy companies that take forever or end up not helping at all. Like on the weekends when you have ALL the questions, but no one is ever there to answer the phone due to “office hours”. Gotta love those. How about the click-bait rates they love to offer you in the beginning, which end up getting you into the biggest argument with your spouse over finances when they surprise you with the after-introductory rates? Messes up your day. You may or may not have even said a few things you regret and all that stemmed from a bill. Most energy providers you’ll find are just not all that they’re cracked up to be.

I’m excited to be sharing with all my Texans that your wait for a better energy provider is finally over. It’s time my friends. Time for the breakup you absolutely need! Let me introduce you to your new energy provider, Rhythm. Sit down a minute, let me share all the deets! First, I must say you will never have to worry about “office hours”. They are available seven days a week. You can reach them any day with any question that may come up. Rhythm is also giving you up to $150 in bill credits to help cover your early termination fee with your current provider.

Oh, my friends, here is the kicker! You can even date them for 90 days! Rhythm calls it their 90-Day Easy Energy Promise. You can try them out and leave without the penalty if it doesn’t work out. Even though we know you will love them, you STILL have an out. Talk about winning!

Head to the door. It’s time to break-up!

My Kinda Crazy Podcast

I had been watching her for a few weeks. She got my attention because I liked what I saw inside and out, let’s just keep it a buck!😬 She was definitely a beautiful woman that I was drawn to, but I wasn’t sure if she was the one yet. This was on a Friday evening when I went to one of my usual youth night services at a church I was connected with for awhile.

Recently, I had just finished a fast praying for my wife a little while before this time, so for sure I was intentionally in the mindset of finding my wife. When I saw her a few times I still wasn’t sure about her, so I was always open to being wrong, but I unconsciously began to look forward to seeing her. So I had all the normal questions anyone would have in their mind. Am I wasting my time? Is this the right one? God, what should I do? Then one Friday, I had made up my mind to go for it. There was no one else pulling at my spirit as strongly as she was. I couldn’t hold back any longer. This was it, I was going to introduce myself to her once the service ended. Since she was singing on the praise team that day, I initially started to approach her as she was walking off the stage, and at the last moment I turned back. I know right...I’m such a cornball, I chickened out! I started casually talking to one of my friends while she happened to be talking to another one of my friends.

While I was making small talk with my friend, I overheard her and my other friend speaking across the room. He was asking if she was going to be at the after party. She said no. She said she had a test to study for. I was thinking in my mind I may have just lost my chance or maybe I’ll just see if I can track her down the next week. But just thinking about pushing it off and chickening out, knowing that I could’ve lost my opportunity just got me more frustrated. I didn’t go chase you down, but I know I wanted to be sure, so I put a challenge to God. I got in my car and drove back home, but I didn’t get out. I sat in my car in front of my house and prayed to God. “Lord, if she is the woman for me, let her be at the afterparty. I knew she said she wasn’t going to be there, so I knew if God placed her there, it would be the most obvious form of intervention God could set up for us to meet.

So I headed to the restaurant “on completely faith,” unsure if she would be there. For all I knew, she had no plans to be there and I was wasting my gas just to show up and leave disappointed. But for as much as she was pulling at my spirit, I had to go. I got out of the car and headed into the resturant. I initially thought I was at the wrong restaurant and I almost walked out. But then I noticed a friend of mine in the back of the restaurant so I head back and then I see a ton people at least 50 at a completely packed long table where no seats look to me available at all. I start to look for her. As I gaze down the packed table, at the very end there was only one seat left, next to her! She was there!

To be continued……
