Planning a Trip To Magnolia Market at The Silos

doinglifewithbridgette.com.png

Our family recently planned a day trip to the Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas. Since it’s only an hour and a half drive it was an easy decision for our labor-day weekend. I wanted to share a few tips because we soon realized that a ton of people from all over the world come to Waco to visit this Chip & Joanna Gaines experience. Everything about the experience is very much that Country modern vibe that we fill on the show Fixer Upper on HGTV.

If you are planning to visit The Magnolia Market anytime soon, here are few things I would suggest:

  1. Plan to arrive EARLY. Like around 9am. Then as SOON as the The Table restaurant opens make a reservation as the wait time is usually around 3 hours. Especially on a holiday weekend. Use the 3 hour wait time to then explore the other parts of Magnolia Market. We actually didn’t get there in time for the restaurant due to having two toddlers, one of which is still in diapers and your typically unknowns.

  2. The Silos area on the lawn is a fun place to chill out and relax. They have tons of food trucks there that will be great to hold you over until your reservation is ready. Plan to go when the weather isn’t super hot in Texas. The day we went it just happened to be in the 80s which is unusal for Texas in August, but it was just right with enough overcast to shade the sun. If you go on a typical hot Texas day, you won’t last very long. It will be too hot to be outside on the lawn.

  3. They do try to make it better with the water fan going but just try to think about that.

  4. Try the Watermelon Juice from one of the food truck. It is delicious and makes for a great photo opp as well!

  5. Bring a stroller. Even if you have a stroller they have “large Trolleys” that are basically city sized buses that will take you from one side of the market to the other side. They also have the smaller trolley’s as well to help.

  6. The earlier you get there the more crowded it will be so plan to walk

  7. I suggest if you are coming in from out of town, plan other things to do. This is a small but fun experience. I just don’t want people to get disappointed for traveling SO far for only a little experience in my opinion.

  8. It’s kid-friendly but not a kid-attraction if you know what I mean. They have small games to play but my 10 year old nephew was bored after a while and was ready to go after a few hours.

I have included pictures and a video from our trip below to give all of this some context but the main thing to know is that we did not experience the entire Magnolia Market. We mainly experienced the Silos, the lawn, the store, the food trucks, the bakery and the garden. We will be going back to visit the restaurant as well.

My Child Did Not Walk Until 16 Months (Late Walking Toddlers)

Late-walking toddlers.png

I got worried. Month by month would go by and my son would still be crawling when he should have started walking. He was actually late with crawling but I’m not sure if that is because we loved to cuddle with him so much and rarely put him down long enough to crawl. He is so loving and affectionate. We finally realized that he wasn’t crawling and started working with him to crawl more. He finally started to scoot across the floor but his sister did that and started walking right on time.

Then came his one year birthday. He didn’t mind crawling at this point and was very good at it, but for some reason he did not want to walk just yet. I wasn’t too worried at this point but after a few months went by and still not wanting to walk without us holding his hand, I began to worry. The worrying particularly got intense when I saw other little boys his age walking just fine. I asked around but when his Pediatrician reassured me that he was just fine, I felt a sense of calm come over me. He had just turned 15 months so I knew this walking thing had to happen within the next 3 months.

The thing that really made me see that this was a choice for him is that when he held my hand, he would walk on his own not really using my hand for any support. It was all mental for him. I think he just feared falling. That is when I just said a simple prayer “God help Josiah to walk and not fear falling.” That prayer worked because one day on his own, he decided to walk across the room on his own. Then he fell down and started crawling. We rejoiced! This was a victory! He has been doing this walking then crawling thing now for about two weeks. My next prayer is “God help Josiah to walk without having to crawl. Help him to have confidence and balance.”

If your a momma out there searching the internet for tips and resources to help your child walk, I wanted offer you a few ideas:

  1. As my physician told me, some kids walk at 9 months and others at 18 months. It doesn’t mean something is wrong developmentally and this is not a cursor for developmental issues. They decide when they are ready.

  2. Try your best not to compare. I know its hard, but know that your kids is unique and will walk in his/her own time.

  3. Try using upbeat music to encourage dancing while standing which helps with balance, but again they will do it in their own time.

  4. Being around other children that are walking helped Josiah. He was encouraged to follow his peers. It may or may not work.

  5. Rest. Don’t let yourself stress out too much about this. Enjoy this season with them and just laugh about it later.

Momma, you got this even though sometimes it feels you don’t. As long as your present, loving and praying for your baby, he/she will be just fine. I’m sure of it. I hope this helps but tell me in the comments your thoughts! I know it’s easy to say, don’t worry but we tend to be concerned because we just want the best, so I’m here to listen.

This post is sponsored by Trademore. I was paid for this post.

The summer is here and in full bloom! Recently, I have made it my goal of clearing out the clutter in our home. I’m slowly going through each room and have realized we have a TON of old electronics in our home that we are not using. After gathering them all up, I decided to recycle. them in. What’s cool is this site called Trademore. You can go to their website and see that they have a variety of options you can trade in from smartphones to tablets and even smartwatches!

Everything is super easy and seamless because the website actually allows you to find the value of your device right there! They then send you a free pre-packaged, pre-paid box with all the details on how to send in your device. Then you send it back within 30 days and get the quoted amount paid to you!

Another option they have which is great as well is the option to buy certified pre-owned smartphones and smartwatches. Looking for a quick gift for your husband or friend. This site has lots of options and you can trust they are in the top shape. They are competitively priced and go through a 30-point functional and cosmetic inspection for quality, reliability and functionality. They even have 2-day shipping for those like me who can’t go too long without my phone or electronic devices. In addition to all of that the cherry on top is their 30 day money back guarantee! So this is my favorite find of the month of July to help all you out there looking for an easy way to clear the technology clutter and upgrade to better devices.

How To Host The Perfect Disney Mom Playdate Party (Stress-Free)

(Some of the things mentioned in this post has been sponsored by our friends at Disney Parks)

Every month I’ve made it a goal is mine to get together with other moms through our Lily Pads Moms Group. This month we decided to do a Disney #NowMoreThanEver Party that was Lion King & Rapunzel Themed. We wanted it to be fun and easy! Our Disney Mom Play Date Kit came in the mail and we had a blast planning the whole thing!

Here are a few tips on how I did it:

  1. We decided to go to Rain Forest Cafe because the backdrop and surroundings fit perfect for The Lion King & Rapunzel theme. Also going to a restaurant meant that I did not have to cook food! Just ordered and eat! Simple!

  2. For party favors we went to Dollar Tree and they had Disney themed puzzles and toys for a dollar! It was perfect for our games

  3. We had a Disney matching game provided to us by Disney Parks but since most of our kids were so young we instead used it as a drawing for prizes that included a Disney Lion Guard pinanta, a JAKKS Toys Rapunzel doll, a Popped Passion popcorn cake, and a host of other prizes.

  4. For the adults we had a Disney themed fortunes teller printed out. The goal was to see who can fold it correctly with only seeing it one time. That was fun!

  5. The kids were allowed to come dressed as their favorite Disney Princess. Olivia dressed as a Rapunzel in her cute purple dressed but of course she refused to take a picture.

At at the end of the day we just had good company and a ton of fun Disney style! Sure did make us miss our trip we took to Disneyland back in May 2019. We all got a taste of Disney but really want to experience it again!

Here are a few photos of our party:
